Creating new business is cruicial to any real estate professional’s livelyhood. Using the power of the internet can be a great source of leads or it can be an endless money pit. Most local MLS boards provide solutions to their members, usually for a monthly fee, that allows agents and brokers to integrate MLS listings into their websites. Unfortunately, many of these “solutions” do not help your website one bit when it comes to ranking in the search engines. There are a number of reasons for this, but the main one is that the search engines’ robots (that come to your website to see what information you have) cannot get at the MLS solutions that most boards use. These “framed” solutions are usually 100% unfriendly to the search engine “bots.”
Most boards also offer what we call IDX or Internet Data Exchange data for free. This is the raw listing data for your local MLS.
